‘The Jetavana at Sravasti’, depicts the three favourite residences of the Buddha: the Gandhakuti, the Kosambakuti and the Karorikuti. Shravasti was one of the largest cities of Ancient India where Buddha passed the greater part of his monastic life. The main monasteries in Sravasti were the Jetavana (where he gave the most number of discourses and Suttas) and the Pubbarama. Today, remains of this ancient city can be seen at Saheth-Maheth in Uttar Pradesh. The stories of its prosperous past can be seen on relief works of the Sanchi Stupa and relics from the Bharhut Stupa.
These beautifully carved structures are a reminder of the glorious time when King Pasendi of Kosala asked the Buddha for guidance on governance. This painting shows one such incident on a full moon night at Jetavana monastery where the Buddha, in response, is sharing his wisdom. It is a small contribution towards Dhamma awakening and spreading Ambedkarite culture.

The painting is of course beautiful but also the frame and materials used are of very fine quality.
